After some leisurely days in the hills of Catalonia, today we visit the last destination in Spain for the time being: Besalú. It is a small medieval town, which is especially characterized by the striking bridge and buildings located on the river.
In Besalú itself there are mainly the village and the historical buildings to admire. Some souvenir stores and two, three museums for those interested. We are mainly attracted to Besalú because of the historical buildings. After a short walk over the old bridge and through the village, our expectations of Besalù are already fulfilled. The river Fluvià carries little water during our visit in April. Maybe this is also due to the currently persistent drought, we don’t really know. But for some photos of the bridge with the river the water level is just high enough.
With these impressions, we say goodbye to Spain for the moment. After a longer time, this farewell comes now nevertheless somewhat abruptly and unexpectedly for us. It doesn’t help, we want to see more, experience more and drive on, so there is only the way forward. We drive via the small state of Andorra into the French, Catalan Pyrenees. The Catalan influence is still present from northern Spain until far into southern France. So, we will report back soon from France with our latest impressions.
