Our next stop on our trip is Glastonbury. Many know the name from the famous Glastonbury Festival – a music OpenAir in June. But we are not here for the OpenAir, but on a November day. Nevertheless, the alternative vibe runs through the town. There are stores with typical hippie clothes and jewelry. It also has many esoteric services on offer like fortune telling etc. Herbal stores can also be found in some houses.

Glastonbury has a history of spiritual importance, as several ley lines cross here. These are, according to some interpretations, energy lines that connect special places of power of nature. Other accounts see this as more down to earth, as many monuments have been built on these straight lines, connecting them together. So according to this view, it is more of a meta-level information to landmarks. Either way, we like Glastonbury and took a little walk to Glastonbury Tor.

Glastonbury Tor

Glastonbury Tor stands exactly on a crossing point of the mentioned ley lines and is the name of the hill very close to Glastonbury. On the hill stands St. Michael’s Tower. From here, on the one hand, we have a good panoramic view of the countryside and the town. On the other hand, there are several paths around the tower with information boards about the history of Glastonbury Tor. It is linked to various legends, for example Avalon and the legend of King Arthur. For us, it is a relaxing walk in the Somerset countryside.
