Suchitoto

by | Jan 26, 2024 | El Salvador, North America | 0 comments

Suchitoto is a small, well-kept village very close to Lake Suchitlán, a reservoir that backs up the Rio Lempa to supply a large hydroelectric power station with energy. However, the reservoir itself is a beautiful sight, as the lake shores are very natural and many branches make the lake appear natural.

The village of Suchitoto is the cultural capital of El Salvador and there are probably very regular cultural and culinary events. We are in Suchitoto from Thursday to Friday, so we see little of the cultural activities. However, the view over Lake Suchitlán during the aperitif is really beautiful and there are also islands within the lake, which make the view particularly attractive.

Our travel plans for the upcoming Christmas week and New Year have now been finalized, so we spend a leisurely afternoon in Suchitoto and don’t wait any longer the following day and head straight towards the border with Honduras.

If you like our blog and you would like to read and see more of us, we would be very happy if you would like to support us. Often we sit for hours in coffee shops, write our blog, sort out pictures and edit them. That’s quite a large number of coffees together. Maybe you would like to buy us one or two?

About us

We are Paddy and Mimi, a travel-hungry couple from tiny Switzerland in the middle of Europe. We call ourselves slow travelers, because we like to spend enough time in one place or country. Therefore we don’t only visit the typical sights but also get to know the culture of the respective country.
